Designed With Purpose

Our second graders kicked off a brand new reading comprehension unit all about story structure—the plan behind every great story! Students are learning that strong writers start with a thoughtful structure in mind.

They brought that idea to life with a hands-on challenge: working together to build a bridge with a purpose—to support a lunchbox! Just like stories, strong structures need a solid plan.

We’ll be drawing on this experience all throughout our reading unit as students learn how authors build stories that truly hold up.
