About CCS
Cornerstone is pleased to celebrate 30 years of God's faithfulness! Families have partnered with CCS since 1981 in providing their children with a Christian education that emphasizes a biblical worldview.
Eternal Benefits of Christian Education
The impact of Christian education is priceless! View this brief video to hear a testimony of ACSI Acting President Dr. Dan Egeler as he shares about the lasting impact his elementary teacher had on his life.
K-12 ACSI Accredited
The Cornerstone Christian School is K-12 ACSI Accredited. CCS has been K-8 accredited since 1988. We received K-12 accreditation in June 2012. This was the first time we had applied for certification of our high school program...and God blessed our efforts!
Statement of Faith
-
We believe that the Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are the inspired Word of God, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life. - II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:21 -
We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. - Matthew 28:19; II Corinthians 13:14
-
We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of the Majesty of High, He now is our High Priest and advocate. - John 1:1; Luke 1:35; I Corinthians 15:3,4
-
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and during this age to convict, regenerate the sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for Godly living and service. - John 15:26; 16:8
-
We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become believers. - John 3:3; John 1:12
-
We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is, therefore, lost and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained. - Genesis 1:27; Romans 5:12
-
We believe that water baptism for the believer and the Lord's Supper for the believer (Communion) are ordinances to be observed by the church during the present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation. - Matthew 28:19; I Corinthians 11:23
-
We believe the church is composed of all such persons, who through saving faith on Jesus Christ, have been born anew by the Holy Spirit and are united in the Body of Christ of which He is the head. - I Corinthians 12:12-14
-
We believe in the personal and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and that this blessed hope has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer. - I Thessalonians 4:12-18
-
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead; of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord; of the impenitent to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment. - I Corinthians 15:51-54
Program Overview
Early Elementary Program
Our early education program (PreK-Grade 1) is committed to providing a developmentally appropriate program taught from a strong, biblical worldview. Such a commitment allows us to embrace the individual rates of growth (physically, academically, socially, spiritually, and emotionally) that God has placed into each child.
The program officially starts with two years of Pre-Kindergarten beginning with our 3-year-olds. The program is distinctly designed to prepare the children for entry into our Kindergarten program. Children who turn 5 years old by August 31st are eligible to apply for enrollment as a Kindergartener.
Our Kindergarten and Grade 1 classrooms provide the students with a literacy-rich environment that fosters the solid development of pre-reading and early reading skills necessary for upper elementary and beyond.
Upper Elementary Program
Our upper elementary program (Grades 2-5) is committed to providing a challenging program that continues to embrace the developmental needs of children nearing pre-adolescence. As students leave second grade and enter third grade, they begin to use their foundational reading skills to enter the world of novels that are carefully selected to emphasize grade-appropriate skills as well as strong Christian values. Students are also encouraged and supported in the development of study skills as they continue to master foundational mathematics skills, to understand God's use of history to reveal His plan for mankind, and to explore the vast and exciting world of science while they marvel at God's incredible creation.
Middle School Program
Our middle school program (Grades 6-8) emphasizes a biblically sound and deliberately integrated approach to the instruction of the language arts (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) with the content areas. Novel selections and writing assignments are made based on the social studies themes, and science themes are carefully designed to complement the social studies themes. The study of science is designed to look for God's "fingerprints" in all of Creation, and the study of the social studies reveals God's plan for mankind as revealed over time. Data shows that when subjects are taught in an integrated fashion, students are more apt to recall the information taught in one subject because it is also being used in another subject.
High School Program
Our high school program (Grades 9-12) is designed to provide each student with the prerequisite skills and necessary credits to be able to attend the college of one's choice. At the same time, all subjects are studied and applied through the lens of a biblical worldview. Students are encouraged to identify and evaluate the worldviews expressed within their own culture and within the various cultures around the world. It is Cornerstone's desire to equip Christian leaders who will have an impact for Christ on the world around them. During the junior and senior years, a student with a B-average or better qualifies for entry into the MCC Partnership Program. Students are able to enroll at the Manchester Community College (MCC) to take free courses not already offered at CCS that can also be used toward dual credit at the college and high school levels.
Hosted by the Manchester Church of the Nazarene
Although CCS is a non-denominational Christian school, it is the daughter ministry of the Manchester Church of the Nazarene (MCN). The elementary program (Pre-K through Grade 5) is housed in the newest building to the rear of the property (at 218 Main Street). The middle and high school programs (Grades 6-12) are located in the building closest to the street (at 236 Main Street), which is referred to as the McLain Building.
MCN has been committed to providing Christian education to families in this region for the past 30 years.
More than 50 local churches are represented at Cornerstone by our students, families, and faculty.
